| The Lane County Livestock Association (LCLA) was founded in 1939 and worked in close alliance with the Western Oregon Livestock Association for many years. Through several decades, the LCLA also forged close ties with the Oregon Sheepgrowers’ Association as well as the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association to pursue common legislation, initiatives, and goals. The LCLA also has enjoyed a long, positive relationship with the Oregon State Extension Service, significantly expanding the information and support available to the county’s farmers and ranchers. One of the cornerstones of the LCLA since its earliest days has been it support of agricultural based youth organizations such as 4-H, FFA, and Lane County Fair participants. This has continued with the Association’s development of at highly successful 4-H Club Calf sale as well is its operation of the 4-H Fair Livestock Auction and sponsorship of the Lane County Fair Beef Bull Jackpot. Since its inception, the LCLA has fostered camaraderie and growth within its membership through annual picnics, dinners, and ranch tours among other high quality events. It has also promoted excellence within its ranks by recognizing a progressive and dedicated member annually as Producer of the Year. |
